NZQA Unit Standard 167: Level 2 – Credits 4 – Version 8
This training combines the basic but essential Food Safety theory with 2 x Practical Observations. The benefit of this course is that it helps develop practical skills as well as knowledge. This training is suited to any entry-level role including First Cooks, Kitchenhands or Food-service Assistants.
When you complete this training you will learn:
- to maintain effective personal hygiene when working with food
- to prevent cross/contamination; and
- to measure, record, and act on temperature of high-risk food
**This Level 2 certificate combines Food Safety theory with Practical Observations. Because it has a practical focus, this Level 2 training is still accepted, but regional and local authorities now prefer the Level 3 certificate which includes more advanced theory content. **
